Recently, feature films and television documentaries have increasingly painted a picture of the dark Middle Ages. The new special exhibition at the Ritterhaus Bubikon shows that this image does not correspond to medieval reality.<\/p>\n

The exhibition focuses on the colourfulness of the Middle Ages, which can be found, for example, in painting, clothing and manuscripts, and illustrates the origin, processing and meaning of colours in the European High and Late Middle Ages.<\/p>\n

A picture book story and tables where children can learn about the contents in a playful way bring the historical content to life for young guests as well.<\/p>\n

Special guided tours, workshops and lectures are offered to complement the exhibition. Browse through our calendar<\/a> and discover the different events.<\/p>\n

For the special exhibition, a scenic tour is also being developed together with the machTheater. The machTheater offers people with so-called “moderately severe mental disabilities” a creative vocational training programme that is unique in Europe. The theatrical tours of the machTheater focus on medieval clothing and draw parallels between today’s and then’s fashion trends, dress codes and status symbols.<\/p>\n
